Automatic translations
The automatic translation feature in the OIDO online shop makes it easy to serve an international audience, optimise processes and increase your sales through better service and multilingual accessibility. Currently available languages for navigation and content are German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, and simplified Chinese for content only.
Oido automatically contextualises queries to the translation provider Deepl.com to achieve more accurate translation results. The query and the import of the results take place in the background via the OIDO API interface.
Initial situation
Many restaurants and retailers serve an increasingly international clientele. Menus and product catalogues must therefore often be available in several languages to avoid communication problems and increase customer satisfaction. However, manual translation is time-consuming and costly, and poses challenges when it comes to regular updates and ensuring consistent quality. Without multilingual offerings, there is a risk of losing potential sales because guests or customers cannot find their way around or cannot place orders.
Objective
- Customer friendliness: Every guest or customer should be able to view menus and product catalogues in their native language (DE, EN, ES, FR, NL, ZN).

- Efficiency: Reduction of translation effort and quick, easy content updates.
- Error minimisation: Avoidance of communication problems through accurate, consistent translations.
- Increased sales: Increase in order numbers and conversion rates through better understanding of the offering.
Solution through functionality
The OIDO online shop integrates an automatic translation function for menus and product catalogues, which includes the following features:
- Multilingualism: Fully automated translation of all content (product names, descriptions, allergens, etc.) into the supported languages (ZN, ES, EN, DE, NL, FR) and back.
- User control: Customers can select the desired language on their own device (e.g. smartphone).
- Automatic updating: Translations are synchronised and automatically updated when changes are made to the original language.
- Manual correction: Option for operators to check and correct translations as needed to guarantee quality.
